Thermal deburring, thermal energy method (TEM) or blast deburring: this popular method goes by many names. However, each name describes the same technique and approach. By means of an effective and controlled chemical reaction inside a closed chamber, unwanted burrs are removed. The method places rigid safety and environmental demands on the supplier and is therefore rather uncommon in Sweden. That is precisely why we at SGT are so proud to be able to offer this technique at our factory.
“By means of an effective and controlled chemical reaction inside a closed chamber – thermal deburring – unwanted burrs are removed.”
UNPARALLELLED PRECISION
At SGT, we remove undesired burrs from iron, brass, aluminium and stainless steel by means of thermal deburring. We have the capacity to process work pieces measuring up to 400 mm x 400 mm and we have two differently sized machines.
When removing, namely incinerating, burrs, the block of material is placed inside a closed chamber that very rapidly reaches temperatures of as high as 2500-3500 degrees. The chamber is filled with methane gas and oxygen, which is then ignited via a spark plug, and then oxidation is generated where the burrs are vaporised and oxidised away. The remaining ash is carefully removed in our subsequent washing procedure.
This method allows for a process that was once done manually to be performed mechanically in only a few minutes, and guarantees a perfect result every time. Using burr-free components results in increased capacity for the customer’s machinery, and thereby allows working procedures to be made more efficient – and allows money to be saved.
Burr-free result
Deburring can be done manually or in the machines that produce the material. Given our experience in thermal deburring, we can guarantee a burr-free and cost-effective result.
Time-efficient method
The process (from when the block of material is placed inside the chamber, to when the subsequent washing is completed) takes about one hour. Furthermore, we work productively in shifts and often offer a lead time of a maximum of 5 days.
Environmentally friendly process
Our ISO 14001 certification attests that at SGT, we take responsibility for the environment, for example, through more conscientious use of materials, energy and refuse management. An obvious, albeit important, decision.
Warehousing
We are happy to warehouse your material at our factory, both before and after processing. Moreover, we offer distribution and direct delivery to your customer.
